Belief statements

Humans seek to understand all facets of their world and education is the driver that enables that. From birth, the curiosity and wonder to know the world around them, stimulates children’s and adults’ engagement with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As an educational researcher and teacher, I feel privileged to participate in the support of new understandings through STEM education.

STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach that intentionally integrated the content and processes of two or more of the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It develops problem-solving, critical thinking and real-world application skills.

SCIENCE – understanding how our world functions - the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

TECHNOLOGY –a knowledge and a process through which we engage in communication, problem-solving and skills to create solutions for future progress.

ENGINEERING –the creative application of technical, science and mathematics principles to design, process and produce materials, structures, machines, devices, systems for a specific objective.

MATHEMATICS – is the study of numbers, shapes, and space using reason and usually a special system of symbols and rules for organizing them.
